Happy Arbor Month!

The first Arbor Day was celebrated in Nebraska in 1872, when more than one million trees were planted in a single day. Idaho joined the tradition in 1886, and since then, our state tree, the Western White Pine, has stood as a proud symbol of Idaho’s forests.

Idaho’s Arbor Day is on the last Friday of April. It’s the only holiday dedicated entirely to trees, and we think that deserves a celebration, big or small. April is an exciting month for Trees Idaho, so be sure to check out the opportunities below to get involved!

Introducing our EARTH DAY collaboration with the coffee shop, Jitters by Jayne, in downtown Boise!

The Ponderosa, a blueberry lavender matcha, will be available April 21st - April 30th. On Earth Day (April 22nd), 25% of the proceeds will support the work of Trees Idaho! (Don’t forget to bring your reusable cup to receive a $0.50 discount!)

City of Boise Earth Day Celebration Saturday, April 18th, 10am-2pm, The Watershed, Boise

Explore new ways to protect our local environment and take climate action with hands-on activities, games and exhibits for all ages. Enjoy food trucks and live music throughout the event!

TREEvia Night on Wednesday, April 22, 6pm-8pm, Lost Grove Brewing, Boise

Join Trees Idaho & University of Idaho Extension in Ada County on Earth Day to nerd-out on trees! The night will be complete with cool prizes and a special guest.

Idaho State Arbor Day Friday, April 24, 10am Idaho State Museum

The annual celebration of Arbor Day is coming Friday, April 24 at beginning at 10 AM at the Idaho History Museum located in Boise’s Julia Davis Park. We will celebrate all things trees, including the winners of the 2026 youth photo contest. Get FREE SEEDLINGS at the event while supplies last!

Love trees? Become a Tree Captain! 🌳

Tree Captains are local volunteer leaders working to enhance the health of Idaho neighborhoods through tree planting, advocacy, and stewardship.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Click here to learn more and apply!

Free Trees for Coeur d’Alene Residents

Thanks to generous support from State Farm Insurance & the Arbor Day Foundation, Trees Idaho and the City of Coeur d’Alene will be distributing 100 trees to CDA residents on May 23.

Trees will be available to reserve at treesidaho.org/freetrees on April 20th.

Tree Inventory Volunteers Needed in the Wood River Valley

Trees Idaho & the City of Bellevue are recruiting volunteers to conduct a city-wide tree inventory. No experience needed! Trees Idaho will host a training event on May 12, 5:30-7:30pm.
