The Program Manager is a valued team member responsible for leading and coordinating Trees Idaho's statewide programs, ensuring they are well-organized, impactful, and aligned with the organization's mission and strategic goals. This position oversees program planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting while working closely with the Trees Idaho staff team, volunteers, community partners, and funders.

The Program Manager will play a significant role in expanding Trees Idaho's statewide impact while collaborating with the team on organizational priorities. As part of a small team, this position will occasionally support broader organizational initiatives and operations as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Program Management 

  • Lead the planning and implementation of Trees Idaho's statewide programs, including: the Elaine Clegg City of Trees Challenge, Community Tree Care Program, TreeQuest, and more.

  • Manage annual program calendars, timelines, budgets, and deliverables.

  • Coordinate community tree giveaways, volunteer events, educational programs, and other initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain program procedures to ensure consistency and quality across programs.

  • Track program metrics and outcomes for grants, funders, and organizational reporting.

  • Identify opportunities for program expansion and develop new initiatives that advance Trees Idaho's mission.

Volunteer Management

  • Recruit, train, and manage current and incoming volunteers that contribute to the organization’s events and programs

  • Support group and individual trainings and recognition events for volunteers

Partnerships & Community Engagement 

  • Build and maintain relationships with municipalities, nonprofits, schools, businesses, and community organizations.

  • Coordinate with volunteers, contractors, and program partners.

  • Represent Trees Idaho at meetings, conferences, and community events.

  • Support volunteer recruitment, training, scheduling, and recognition.

Organizational Support

  • Collaborate with staff on annual work plans, budgeting, and strategic planning

  • Support fundraising events, communications, and other organizational efforts as needed

  • Assist with grant implementation, reporting, and tracking deliverables

  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience in program management, project management, or a related field.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Experience managing volunteers and community partnerships.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small team.

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace.

  • Familiarity with urban & community forestry, environmental education, conservation, or natural resources.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout Idaho as needed.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This position includes both office and field work throughout Idaho. The Program Manager must be able to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds and participate in outdoor activities such as planting and distributing trees, setting up and supporting community events, and working alongside volunteers. The position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and working on uneven terrain for extended periods, as well as working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Regular travel throughout Idaho is required to attend meetings, events, and program activities. 

Compensation & Benefits

This position is full-time and based in Boise, Idaho. Trees Idaho offers a compensation package including employer-paid health insurance, a Simple IRA with 3% match, unlimited PTO, and opportunities for professional development. The salary for this position is $60,000. The position requires working on the occasional nights and weekends.
