Free & Low CosT Trees

Trees Idaho partners with local communities to offer free & low cost trees for homeowners in participating cities across the state. Programs at Trees Idaho are developed with a vision to support communities and residents by investing in and growing healthy trees that support thriving parks, streets and neighborhoods. Our free trees are a gift to residents to help beautify their yard, bring cool shade in the hot summer months and provide habitat for city wildlife — all core benefits to a thriving community forest at your home and in your neighborhood.

Each year, a limited number of trees are available for residents in participating cities. These programs are supported by volunteer Tree Captains who help us steward the longterm health of trees in our participating cities.

2026 Schedule

April 2026: Caldwell, Nampa, and portions of Meridian (trees are currently sold out)

May 2026: Coeur d’Alene (Click here to reserve your tree)

Fall 2026: Boise

How it Works

Step 1: Residents are able to order a tree from a list of different types of trees for their home while supplies last.

Step 2: Tree orders are confirmed with the tree recipients. Tree Recipients choose if they would like to plant the tree on their own or join our volunteer event, where volunteer teams assist with planting (if applicable to the program). Planting day will be announced to tree recipients and community volunteers.

Step 3: Trees arrive! Additional coordination about tree pickup and planting day will be shared with Tree Recipients.

Important Notes

Our trees are big! Trees upon arrival typically are 4-10 feet tall in 7-15 gallon pots.

Only one tree per household per year.
